Got a grip of great new shit!

The first two are on Ravesploitative Records. One is an all-out remix bonanza with elements of HEALTH, Foot Village, Captain Ahab and Jason Forrest remixed and worked into one other. Screen-printed technicolor gradient sleeve and labels. This 12" has a suggested speed of 45 r.p.m. but take the Doctor's word for it, slower is better! The other is a split between Ahab and Copy (also of the Audio Dregs label) that's packed to the brim with E-pill anthems of both the Hyphy and Rave kind. Totally excellent.

"No synthesizers, sequencers, samplers, drum machines, computers, or musical instruments." Considering how phenomenal this record is, that statement is kinda mind-blowing. Mincemeat or Tenspeed is the real deal. Extreme and experimental electronic music that's engaging and compelling. And it's just one guy with some guitar fx pedals and a mixer. Totally inspired (and inspiring). Listen to "Roots Furs" from the LP c/o Deathbomb Arc.

Bromp Treb is Neil Young (also of Fat Worm of Error) using the sounds of records slowing down, speeding up, and being scratched, disected breakbeats, drum machines, various vocal stabs and chipmunk raps to create a woozy new world based on the sonics of hip-hop. The result is something weird and wonderful, kind of like the noise-rap hybrid of DJ Dog Dick's work but still unique and completely enjoyable in it's own right. Based on this awesome pic (courtesy of Blastitude):

I think I would really like to see "the Treb" live. Warbler is somewhere between Realicide and the Death Set, which as it turns out is not a terrible place to be. One of their members is in XBXRX and it's influence is somewhat apparent, but this is definitely a step forward into a new realm of disjointed future punk. Now that I'm thinking about it, these guys should just do a split tour and stop by Milwaukee. Early show at the Borg Ward, late show at Cactus. Blam. Done. Next.

Rose For Bohdan is Deathbomb Arc top dawg Brian Miller's band pre-Foot Village. Their entire last record was released free on the internet via Deathbomb. Beautiful clear vinyl LP.

'The final installment in Juiceboxxx & Dre Skull's trilogy of singles (the first two were Sweat and Center Stage). Just like their previous work, this oen features some wild, fast paced raps from Mr. Boxxx backed by great production from the always reliable Dre Skull. "Hype" is an uptempo breakbeat track that lurks beneath lyrics about getting... well, hype. Huge remixes here too, with Sinden turning it into a straight up hip-house track and Udachi putting his signature belching bass sounds into the mix. Dre Skull also gets an extra crack at it, making it into a "hands in the air" techno moment.' -reviewed by Hires 10/08/2009
