Last year Juiceboxxx journeyed out to Kiev, Ukraine for an out-of-control rave that became one of his European tour highlights (as noted previously with this live you tube vid of "Hype"). He came back bearing tales (and the myspace address) of the mythical local dance duo ZHIGULI, and their magical party-starting ways. Now we have proof! Welcome to 2KDIME, the year deep house comes back with a vengeance. This is the perfect mix for your NYE pre-gaming or sweaty post-ball-drop house party sessions. USE THIS MIX TONIGHT!

Sissy Nobby's debut track on Mixpak "Lay Me Down" is absolutely the best track of 2009. Possibly the entire decade. And it's not even getting an official release until early next year. In the meantime, nosh on this tasty appetizer of a video, for the L-VIS 1990 remix (he's also made this trippy, terrific vid) and go buy the Remix EP from iTunes now!

POSSIBLE FATHERS BACK IN THE GAME EDIT: D00DS, DEMO FOR A NEW TRACK "JOY KILLER" POSTED @ myspace.com/possiblefathers
Tuesday, December 08, 2009
Wild Kingdom was the first show I ever saw, at Shank Hall in Milwaukee, WI. When I was 5. "Squiggly Bone" was one of my first favorite songs. TRUTH. Old school weirdo Milwaukee ska-punk-funk vibe. CLASSIC.
I've been jamming "Black Magic" pretty hard for a while now. If you're a fan of NRGetic disco this EP is a must. Free, but donate if you can afford it. DOWNLOAD THE FREE MVSCLZ DEMO EP

Milwaukee thrash quartet Holy Shit! are getting ready to release a new 10" on Criminal IQ, entitled K.B.D.O.O.P. Two of the new songs ("It's Time For You To Leave" and "Last Road Trip") are streaming now on the Holy Shit! myspace.
Back in '05 ASSACRE released his only album entitled "Fantastic Illusions Worth Dying For" and it's currently available for FREE (or donation, which I would HIGHLY recommend since this is some primo stuff) via assacre.bandcamp.com. Click the link if you want to hear some catchy and totally shredding metal. My favorites are "Gayer Than God" and "Cyclops Genesis".
DJ Teenage Wolf (CULNSWEET, TEJANO BOUNCE, if you read this blog at all you should know the dude by now, for sure) recently did this remix of the classic 80's Detroit Techno-Pop anthem "Good Life" by Inner City (aka Kevin Saunderson & Paris Grey, two all time VPOP heroes). CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD IT! (ZSHARE).
Ex-Big Fun 4ever bass player and merch designer Jonathan Cooper has been living in Japan for the last 4 months. He recently sent us this Terminator menu and 2012 brochure, for some reason. Enjoy!
I really wish I could read that tiny description of Adam Lambert's "Time For Miracles"
I need to hit you with a quick one-two and then I'm out:
Today XLR8R dropped a fantastic new Dre Skull mix. The podcast includes his remix of "Hype" as well as his take on the incredibly dope future-anthem "Smoke Rings" by Udachi & Jubilee and a handful of other sneak peak exclusives. GO TO XLR8R 4 THE DOWNLOAD INFO & TRACK LIST!
A brand new mix by DJ Teenage Wolf for the Generation Bass blog dropped on Tuesday. His original track "Rico Mango" closes the set, and it is phenomenal. It will also be featured on the upcoming CULNSWEET ep for Vicious Pop Digital. PICK UP THE MIX (C/O TEJANO BOUNCE)!
Got a grip of great new shit! The first two are on Ravesploitative Records. One is an all-out remix bonanza with elements of HEALTH, Foot Village, Captain Ahab and Jason Forrest remixed and worked into one other. Screen-printed technicolor gradient sleeve and labels. This 12" has a suggested speed of 45 r.p.m. but take the Doctor's word for it, slower is better! The other is a split between Ahab and Copy (also of the Audio Dregs label) that's packed to the brim with E-pill anthems of both the Hyphy and Rave kind. Totally excellent.
"No synthesizers, sequencers, samplers, drum machines, computers, or musical instruments." Considering how phenomenal this record is, that statement is kinda mind-blowing. Mincemeat or Tenspeed is the real deal. Extreme and experimental electronic music that's engaging and compelling. And it's just one guy with some guitar fx pedals and a mixer. Totally inspired (and inspiring). Listen to "Roots Furs" from the LP c/o Deathbomb Arc.
Bromp Treb is Neil Young (also of Fat Worm of Error) using the sounds of records slowing down, speeding up, and being scratched, disected breakbeats, drum machines, various vocal stabs and chipmunk raps to create a woozy new world based on the sonics of hip-hop. The result is something weird and wonderful, kind of like the noise-rap hybrid of DJ Dog Dick's work but still unique and completely enjoyable in it's own right. Based on this awesome pic (courtesy of Blastitude): I think I would really like to see "the Treb" live. Warbler is somewhere between Realicide and the Death Set, which as it turns out is not a terrible place to be. One of their members is in XBXRX and it's influence is somewhat apparent, but this is definitely a step forward into a new realm of disjointed future punk. Now that I'm thinking about it, these guys should just do a split tour and stop by Milwaukee. Early show at the Borg Ward, late show at Cactus. Blam. Done. Next.
Rose For Bohdan is Deathbomb Arc top dawg Brian Miller's band pre-Foot Village. Their entire last record was released free on the internet via Deathbomb. Beautiful clear vinyl LP.
AND IS SET TO DROP IN TTL... LIKE, REAL FUCKIN' SOON!
STAY TUNED FOR ALL THE HYPEST NEWZ...

HEY! ITZ POST # ONE HUNDO!
Dre Skull recently (mad recent, like yesterday recent) dropped this video for his excellent futuristic synth pop track "I Want You". It was made by Pomp&Clout, the creative force behind that last (super dope) Boys Noize vid "Jeffer". This one's a candy-flipped Vegas-goes-Tron CGI romp that goes down as a treat for your eyeballs:
Okay maybe our punk house is a little too punk... It fizzes and bubbles when I try to plunge away the problem. I think it might be on the verge of developing consciousness.

CAVE IS BACK IN MILWAUKEE ON TUESDAY!
Wednesday, September 16, 2009
Let's play the game "which one of these is not like the other?" with the creepy prog/fantasy/disco band Goblin. The answer is:
From witches sighing and hyperactive timpani drums to this in three years. That's why they call these guys legends, people.
I swear, you won't have to wait TOO much longer for the full track, in all it's glory, to crash your internet party, but until then check out this crucial vid of Juiceboxxx live in Kiev, Ukraine last year playing a super early version of his upcoming single with Dre Skull, "HYPE":

Starting getting EXTREMELY HYPED, IMMEDIATELY because on October 6, 2009 Juiceboxxx and Dre Skull drop their brand new single and the last of their futuristic disco 12" trilogy! "Hype" has been a long time coming and features remixes by Sinden and Dre Skull as well as an exclusive digital-only remix from Udachi. The cover art is classic Juice & Dre, all bloody cyborgs and outer space, which is a pretty good indication of the sound of this new monster track. Keep your eye balls peeled for track's debut, who knows where it will pop up first...
While we're on the subject of da Juiceboy, I've been meaning to do a post for a while now about his new 12" single on IHEARTCOMIX, "100 MPH". Recorded with legends-in-the-house-game Joe Smooth and Craig Loftis? Check. Timeless lyrics about speed, parties and life? Check. The return of wailmeister general Willy Dintenfass ripping a totally insane axe solo? Check. Bongos? Check. Piano vamps? Check. Addictive music video by up-and-coming comic genius and Awesome Show contributor DJ Douggpound? Check. (That one will drop any day now, check back and I'll post it asap. EDIT: IT DROPPED!) Killer remixes by Trouble & Bass's AC Slater, IHEARTCOMIX label mate Ocelot and DFA-based Free Blood? Check, check and CHECK. Yup, it's all there, this one's officially a full-blown RAGER. Head over to IHEARTCOMIX.COM to pick it up.
Also, head over to Lucky Me and pick up Juice's "Heartland Sunset Bass Mix", a pause-tape style mix that is totally killer.

I've been stocking up on some great singles at basement show merch tables lately: Tampa, Florida is not fucking around, people. Preaux Breaux Geauxld's "Electric Fingertips" has an early-Hi-NRG-goes-lo-fi vibe with riffs that feel like they're melting into each other. It's addictive and fascinating in a way that every great pop tune should be. Not to be outdone, for their side Skeleton Warrior write a love song to a lethal cleaning product, "Married to Draino" (with Diamond Hymen guesting as the voice of "Draino" [BTW someone put out a Diamond Hymen 7" NOW!]) that bubbles along at frightening crawl and sounds as if it's makers were drinking the product whilst producing this cut. The vinyl is black with white marble wisps, like a fog machine running in a dark room. Which is exactly appropriate for these bands. Pick it up when you see them live, or hit up Cephia's Treat. Clip of Diamond Hymen from Sunday:
Mutating Meltdown's "Fantasy" single is terrific. Half of Finally Punk plus the dude from Zom Zoms playing organ. An anthem for anyone living in the (underground music) world. "So, so tight/don't fit quite right/circulation cut off/can't speak, can't cough/so hot, can't breath/this heat is suffocating me." Tell me about it. Limited edition third pressing of two hundred copies on sky blue vinyl via M'lady's Records. Full length LP in the works? Their live set featured brief blasts of otherworldly sonics that are only faintly hinted at on this early recording. Hopefully those elements show up intact on the long player once it arrives.
I would imagine this track being prominently featured on the upcoming JEFF The Brotherhood full length "Heavy Days". The theme that connects this disparate collection of singles (besides all of them being available on 7" and limited to 300 copies or under) is that the songs represent the most coherent and streamlined singular statements yet from their respective makers. "Heavy Damage" is practically a mission statement for JEFF, nicely honing all of their psychedelic, grunge and garage tendencies into one concentrated blast. Available from the band's own Infinity Cat label and Crystal Swan Recordings.
