So Mixpak Records launched a podcast series a while back. Cool, right? Well the latest edition is an hour long history lesson from one of my all time favorite Chicago house/juke/all around futuristic-awesome-badass DJs/producers, the backwards named DJ Nehpets. Oh, and also I totally spaced on this ridonkulous release Mixpak just did by Cory Blaine called "Hot Plate" that's got both a Nehpets remix and a re-version of b-side "Car Jack" by Milwaukee's own ex-Geocash production powerhouse Andy Petr. Buy it on vinyl or ones and zeroes, it's like soooo worth it. The Nehpets mix is TOTALLY CRUCIAL for all of the upcoming Boardwalk-Empire-time-travels-to-the-future parties you'll likely be throwing and/or attending this Halloween.

Sissy Nobby's debut track on Mixpak "Lay Me Down" is absolutely the best track of 2009. Possibly the entire decade. And it's not even getting an official release until early next year. In the meantime, nosh on this tasty appetizer of a video, for the L-VIS 1990 remix (he's also made this trippy, terrific vid) and go buy the Remix EP from iTunes now!

Dre Skull recently (mad recent, like yesterday recent) dropped this video for his excellent futuristic synth pop track "I Want You". It was made by Pomp&Clout, the creative force behind that last (super dope) Boys Noize vid "Jeffer". This one's a candy-flipped Vegas-goes-Tron CGI romp that goes down as a treat for your eyeballs:

Usually myspace's news feed of recently added pics is pretty useless but today it turned up something important for once: NEW MIXPAK COVER ART!!!! Vybz Cartel's upcoming "Yuh Love" single gets the Sizzla sleeve treatment and one could only hope this means more Mixpak tees! The mastered and mixed track is streaming now @ myspace.com/dreskull. I gotta be real for a minute with you people: from now on this blog is prob just gonna be me gushing about the latest record on Mixpak, Dre Skull's new label. This time it's "I Want You", Dre's characteristically futuristic take on synth-pop and as usual the 12" is packed with stellar remixes of the glorious title track. The one that stands above the rest, though, is Dre Skull's own remix, a towering minimalist house banger with a Chicago vibe that's the latest thing to get me losing my mind. Check it out @ the MIXPAK MYSPACE. LET THE JUKE TOMS CRUSH UR SKULL!!!
